I am using the same router I've had for years. The burn comes near the joint of the face and the top. At one time I bought a Porter Cable laminate trimmer and got the same results. I've tried putting vaseline along the edge and even masking tape. Right now I'm a little paranoid and when I do use the router for laminates I take my time and don't even let the roler hit the edge. I finish the rest with a file.
