I don't know what an installed hardwood floor goes for in TX, but here in the south wood is less than $2 ft for #1 red oak. Have you ever tried to reclaim a floor? It sucks, and not worth it in my opinion unless it has historical value, is a one of a kind or exotic etc.
HOWEVER you may run across a flooring installer who does repairs on older floors of that nature who may cut you a deal on your new floor to partially salvage your old floor to have boards for repair (does that make sense?)
In any case, I would just scrap the old and start fresh if its just oak. Just my two cents, good luck
