Chemicals work fine to remove the gray caused by mildew on your fence, but the best way to strip a fence is by using a powerwasher with at least 2600 psi, 3 gpm. It will take several hours depending upon the size of your fence, but it will come out much cleaner. Let the fence dry completely before applying the stain.
