Our basement was flooded after a torrential downpour in June and our furnace room floor was wet. The water did not come up through the floor but flashed up through the laundry room drain. Our furnace room floor had been painted and when it got wet the paint peeled (only in some places) right down to the bare cement. We are just finishing up the repairs in the basement. The furnace room floor has been scraped and painted twice but each time this "saline" substance...at least that is what I have been told it is... keeps coming to the surface from the concrete causing the paint to blister and peel again. This did not happen before the flood and I have lived here since 1984. What preparation needs to be done in order to get rid of this problem?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
