Large house built 1921 with part of ceiling that forms stairwell basically unsupported. Large area of the unsupported portion is beginning to "break loose"--large cracks in plaster in that area as well as other areas of upper level and definite bulging of panelling on first floor indicating whole top floor is settling. Need support-type post at corner of protruding portion of stairwell. Is there a decorative post jack for 9 l/2' ceilings? Need help fast!! Any other suggestions welcome!! Thanks!
