Having exactly the same problem with a Craftsman opener starting as of 2 weeks ago. House was built in 1996 so presumably it was a 95 or 96 model. Delighted to find your solution. Wonder how many folks with Craftsmen 'of a certain age' are having the same struggle getting the door closed!
