Thumb tack holes have made my walls look tacky!!!

I have many holes in my drywall walls from years of thumb tacking posters to them. I've stopped using the tacks, but now I'm stuck with "holey walls". What is the best, quickest, and cheapest way to fix my problem? Thanks a lot!
