Me and my wife did this recently. We used the cabinet kits available at the hardware store. With those you do the cabinets first and the tile second.
However, if I was doing it over again, I would use the Ikea style cabinets that have table legs like furniture. In which case you do the tile first and cabinets second.
That way future renovations are a matter of swapping furniture and not ripping out permenantly fixed cabinetry.
It would be a bit more expensive, but worth it in my opinion.
