I purchased a Pella entry door which is sitting in my den with stain on it. It seems to be taking 4 to 5 days for it to dry each side. I used the Old Masters stain kit. The kit comes with a satin finish and when it was applied the stain started to come off. I called Pella and they said the door was'nt completely dry. I have a professional doing the job and he restained the door in spots. My color choice was the red mahogony. I was now told to use a spar finish instead of the satin finish on the outside. What is the best spar finish to use on fiberglass doors and will it make the door look yellow? I live a block from the ocean and river. I was told I would not have to touch up this door for years with the spar finish. What would happen if I just used the satin finish.
