I have the same problem as in the question.Mine will shut off only after ten or eleven degrees difference. I have changed the thermostat and it has same problem. I am thinking the transformer might be bad but dont know how to check it out. I do have a volt meter and would like some info on how to check it. Adjusting the setting on the thermostat for degrees difference does no good so i feel the problem is elswhere, like too much voltage coming to the thermostat.
