Assuming it isn't a gas dryer, you should go for it! They sell them at Home Depot and other such places. I can't think of anywhere in the country except perhaps the Gulf Coast areas where it isn't so dry in the house in the winter that some added moisture isn't needed. You do need to worry about distributing the moist air, tho; if you have a laundry room that is small, the moisture may not get out of there to the main parts of the house, condensing on the window and exterior walls. I had one of the boxes as described and ran dryer hose from the outlet to a return air grille, so that the furnace circulated the moist air evenly. Worked great except that even with the nylon stocking, a fair amount of lint seems to get thru.
