yes gaps will be inbetween the siding and yes there will be blind nailing going on ...
just make sure that the heads of the blind nails do not sink past the paper of the siding.. and put a dab of caulking on each neail head and inbetween the gaps kinda flatten it out.. remembering that even if you use quad (the best out there) it will shrink..... I mean... duh!
