Garage Door Not Opening

I have a SEARS Craftsman Garage Door Opener that started to open the door, but would stop about 1/2 way up. If I held the button down until it completed its cycle it opened all the way. Now the chain does not engage, but the garage opener starts (makes a lod hum). Where should I start?
