The repair won't be permanent. The big selling point on vinyl siding is that it's low maintenance and is molded in whatever color you want it to be. I don't even know if paint would stick to it to start out with, but you can be sure that even if it does, it won't last as long as the rest of the siding. Who wants to keep repainting one section of their house?
