How do you go about bench testing a Hampton Bay Remote Fan Control to make sure it works prior to installation? It's got 2 wires coming into the receiver (hot, neutral) and 3 coming out of the unit (neutral, hot for motor, hot for light). Shouldn't I just be able to hook line voltage to the hot and neutral and than monitor the output across the (neutral/hot for motor) and the (neutral/hot for light)? I tried this and it appeared to never change when I used the transmitter to simulate turning the light and fan off and on. I hooked up the receiver to the fan and it controlled it just fine. Am I missing how the receiver actually works?
Thanks for your help.
