When a nozzle is replaced without filling the oil tube that the nozzle sits on completely with oil, it often takes a week before the air trapped in the tube is cleared. The air is compressed when the pump pressurizes the tube, but the air expands again when the pump shuts off, forcing oil to drip down the face of the nozzle to the air tube and out of the bottom of the burner.
