I would take the stand as your work associate. Some cracks do occur with the settling and motion of the soils. However, this is something that you do need to watch and see if it does get bigger. cracks normally close in the winter with rains, and open in the summers when water is less plentiful.
Measure it or take a digital picure of it with a penny by the crack for comparison and keep an eye on it.
