short step I assume means the riser is too low compared to the height of the other risers. I dont believe there is an easy solution to this one. it may require totally redoing the whole stair to adjust the height of all the risers. others on the board may be more helpful. you might consider painting the risers a light coler to make the low step more noticeable. good luck ...
