just clean it good, then three coats of good primer latex, then two coats of finish coat. Use latex as you can put on multiple coats per day. Use semi gloss paint as it will be washable and cleanable.
Would suggest to get a wagner cheap spray gun for the job as it will go much faster than hand brushing.
