What do I do to enlarge an existing patio/porch slab by 12 inches? Someone suggested drilling into the side of the existing slab and inserting rebar. Someone else said just wire in the bottom would be fine. The additional 12 inches will be the support for the brick pony wall and roof supports, so I need it to be strong. Also, how deep should I make the additional 12 inches. The existing slab is 4 1/2 inches thick. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.
