They make a moisture resistant MDF, but why would you want the hassle? Why not use some other kind of material that is more suitable for a damp area? Unless you just have the stuff laying around and can't afford to buy anything else, I'd say to shelve the idea. No sense wasting effort and materials on something that you know could have potential issues.
