After we removed our christmas tree I noticed that the carpet was a little wet underneath it. Is it absolutely necessary to pull up the carpet, or can I put baking powder on the affected area to remove the oder? Will the mildew go away when the carpet drys? I don't believe there was a lot of water that leaked, but was enough to create an odor.
