Compact florescent bulbs really do save electricity and $$$. I use them in many locations.
While you could use a compact florescent in a motion sensing fixture, I would recommend against it. Florescent bulb life is dramastically shortened with lots of starts. You may save some electricity, but you would not save money due to the high cost of replacement bulbs.
