Bath tub

I am remodeling our bathroom. The house is located in the country and was built in the 50's. My wife and I decided to replace the bath tub. After disconnecting all the pipes and water lines we felt we could just lift the tub out, but couldn't. We thought the tub must be anchored to the floor but this was not so. We found out, after a hard fought struggle, that the tub must weigh a least 300 lbs. We were able to get the tub out in one piece.

My questions:

What do I do with the tub?

What was purpose for having a tub weigh so much?

What would the tub have cost?

Is there a market for this type of tub?

Should I sell it?

Can it be destroyed?
