Linoleum removal Posted by Claus on January 7th, 2003 06:47 PM In reply to removing linoleum from hardwood floors by colleen on August 14th, 1997 12:41 PM [Go to top of thread]
Aloha y'all-
I just bought a house built in 1985 with vinyl
sheet flooring. Because I wanted to install tile,
and on the advice of a Home Depot tile expert, I
ripped the vinyl right off the floor. I found out
the next day that old linoleum can have asbestos
in it. I have heard that its not a worry for a
house as new as mine, and that since it was sheet
vinyl (not vinyl tiles), very flexible, and glued
down with a paper backing, that it does not
contain asbestos.
Please, someone knowledgable, set my mind at ease;
is this something that I should be worried about? Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
