I installed Supradur shingles in 1986 when they were still made with asbestos. I wish I could get more of them. They look great and have worn very well. If any readers are aware of a source who may have an inventory of these shingles, I would appreciate hearing from them. I need a quantity of light grey, dark gray and light green slates. I don't recall the specific name Supradur applied to these shingles, but they are identical in appearance to natural shingles.
Incidentally, the loss to the building trades of cement-asbestos products is a regrettable overreaction to unrelated asbestos risks. When locked up in cement, the asbestos is harmless. If it weren't, does anyone think we would still be drinking water conveyed to our homes through asbestos-cement water pipes?
