One last thing. Thanks for all the responses. I thought a dry well was the termination point of a drainage system. So I would terminate my french drains at a dry well. Am I wrong? I need to build up my knowledge before I do anything. And what better way than the WEB.
I am not to worried about my basement right now. I think the previous owner had a problem and 'fixed' it (i.e the sump pump I talked about). However, I do wonder about the sloping at the foundation. The previous owner has a very large mulched area outside the house all the way around. I have often wondered how deep the mulch goes and whether this should be investigated. My covered basement window wells often have water in them.
