I was reading the recent post on the stairs situation And doug siebert said something to change my opinion on this. The two walls of the hallway are already load bearing walls. Why can't you cut the joist and double headed them over the walls? Isn't that what they do for any stair system? By no means am I stating that Chris should go ahead with this, everyone knows how I stand on this. Ron J.
