My daughter bought my mother's 100+ year old house. All the walls are wallpapered. In removing the wallpaper, she noticed that the walls are bulging and cracking and crumbling. When we went around the house we found that a lot of the walls are bulging and cracking. She has some suggestions to fix the problem with installing 1/8" drywall over the walls. This suggestion also was made with the worry that there may be mold in the old walls.
The other suggestions are to remove the walls and replace them with new drywall. This would allow much needed wiring and insulation in the walls, but would be a huge undertaking and costly.
She wants to do the job right. HELP!!
