My sister has a three story home on top of a mountain that has a problem with a shower on the third floor making thumping noises. I have read about water hammer effect, but it mostly talks about rapidly shutting off valves. My sisters shower noise occurs when the water is running. It is worse with higher rates of water flow. Can this still be the water hammer effect? Will an arrestor work? Where should it be located?
