I have a kitchen/dining/rec room area that has a really bad drywall job on the ceilings (rippled, maybe from moisture as we had a fire prior to installation of drywall). I am thinking about installing some beams on the ceiling, not to cover completely, but to look like exposed beams. This would take the eye away from the expanse of ripples (40 ft. or so) and also look nice, as it is a Cape Cod. I remember years ago my Dad used some kind of lightweight fake stuff to give the appearance of a beamed ceilng. I cannot find any info on fake OR real wood beams.
