Garage door opener - frequency

Almost ever since the garage door opener electronics were replaced, we have found the door wide open about once or twice a month, at times when we knew that none of us had tried to open the door.

We considered the possibility of a nearby car alarm occasionally activating the door opener, but haven't been able to prove it with tests.

The company that installed the electronics insists that the spurious door-opening is a sign that the motor is aging, and should be replaced.

We don't believe him. Do you?
