I am going to buy a 70 year old frame house. The floors on the 2nd level are very unlevel. A house inspector said that the construction was good it was because all the supports were built to the chimney and that over time it had settled. (slants towards the chimney) In the basement the previous owners all ready added lolly columns (excuse the spelling), The inspector said that trying to jack up the house would not be a good idea due to the fact it could cause more problems.
It has wood floors on the second level and the attic is fine, no unevenness, so Can I just rebuild a floor over the exsisting? Will it work?
Thanks
