help-glued medicine cabinet

when my house was built, instead of using wall
anchors to put things on the walls, such as the medicine cabinets, wooden toothbrush holders, towel bars, etc, they glued. I am the second owner of this house, how do I get this stuff off the walls with out destroying the walls? looking at an old wooden, used toothbrush holder every morning is totally gross and needs to go.
