How I would handle it......
If this is a large contract for building a home or major renovation, and it is the ONLY problem with your contractor, let the contractor know you are a bit dismayed, see if he will compromise, then let it go if he doesn't bend.
There are always discrepancies in plans, change orders, unforeseeable circumstances, delays etc, when undergoing a major contract.
It is best to get along well with the contractor. Save the fight for when a more substantial problem arises.
That is just me. You have to decide for yourself.
