DeAnn, funny...I have a cat named Pig (23lb., hence the name).
Minor scratches in most trims usually cover well just by going over them with stain and touching up the finish. Deeper and larger gouges can be filled with wood filler, then treated the same way. I personally like Minwax's wood filler; I think it seems to absorb the stain better, thus hiding better.
