We are in the process of remodelling our house and the new drywall (smooth -level 4) has just been completed. The drywall contractor is recommending that we use a primer "First Coat" instead of just using PVA primer so that we don't see the difference between the "raw" drywall and the taped/mudded areas. If a good primer is used and we go with flat paint - shouldn't that be sufficient?
