ceiling fan w/ remote hookup troubles

I followed the directions and matched/used the wires in the directions, but still nothing. Here's the breakdown:
Out of ceiling: (1)Red, (1)Black, (1)White, (1)bare copper
Remote side (1): (1)Red, (1)White
Remote side (2): (1)Black, (1)Blue, (1)White
Fan (Southwind 5): (1)Black, (1)Blue, (1)White, & green ground wires
I used the white and red out of the ceiling to hookup one side of the remote, but that leaves a black, which doesn't get used. Where does this go? or does it not get used? I think there are two switches on the wall, one will control the fan, and one will control the light. Please let me know. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
