My garage door opener is malfunctioning and I'm not sure what the fix is. Here are the symptoms: When the door is closed- pressing the remote opens the door six inches and closes it again. If I get it stopped open(six inches)-pressing the remote closes the door and then opens it back to the six inch mark.
I made sure everything was moving smoothly and lubricated the chain and gears inside the unit-didn't help.
Finally I got it to open all the way(luck). Now it will only close six inches and open back up. Sometimes it will just make a humming sound and not move at all.
It's a Craftsman 1/2 hp.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
