I've got a 9 foot door with 10 foot ceiling, and when I went to install the garage door opener I only had 1 1/8 of an inch clearance between the top travel of the door and the first truss. The clearance problem does get better as the door goes back. I hate to go cutting notches into the truss to make room. Somebody told me that they saw it on tv where they mounted the garage door opener on the side wall and hooked it up to the torsion bar. Does anybody know anything about this and where can I get the adapter to hook to the bar? Any ideas.
