I have ancient wood kitchen cabinets that are varnished. Can I paint over them or do I need to sand them first? Is there a special paint I need to use? Also, I would like to make the splashboard on my wall under cab. & behind sink in the broken china plate pieces. I know I'd need some sort of quick set glue but don't I need something to put over the glass so not to cut anyone when cleaning?
