Leach "barrels" rather than lines?

A friend told me she saw a septic system install or
rebuild done on one of the shows where instead of
running 400-500 feet of perforated leach pipes, the
leaching was done using plastic barrels of some sort.

Does anyone have a line on the manufacturer or a URL
that describes this approach? I've got both a new
house going in and an old farmhouse needing leach
system replacement, and this sounds like a great
alternative to hundreds of feet of trenching.
