Use a jigsaw with a fine-tooth blade to trim the formica to a size roughly 1-2 inches larger than your surface all the way around. After applying contact adhesive to your stock and your formica, place the formica over the stock using dowel rods to keep them separate. Center your formica over the stock and remove the rods one by one. After the formica is completely attached, roll it or gently 'smack' it with a rubber mallet. Next, trim to nice finished edge with a flush bit router (make sure it is carbide tipped and really sharp!).
