I just bought a two story house built in 1922. There are two chimneys on each side of the house. The left chimney serves the fireplace in the living room, but there is no fireplace on the right side of the house by the dining room and kitchen. I should also say that a bathroom appears to have been added between the kitchen and dining room, and I wonder whether the fireplace may have been covered up. How would I know if there is a former fireplace in the wall? Is it possible that the chimney on the right side of the house is just decorative?
