As usual, I agree with Jay J. But I would suggest that if you do decide to replace the deck, you look at Trex.
There are 2 short articles in the current (June) issue of wood magazine that mention it with page 96 having the most info but some good stuff in the longer article starting on page 66.
You might also want to check www.trex.com and www.timbertech.com.
