I have a light tan brick fireplace face with a concrete slab mantel. I am not happy with the brick color or the discoloration of the bricks from soot & time. I saw somewhere that you could completely cover the entire front with grout (what type is okay by fire?)and arrange pebble-like stones in the grout. Has anyone done this? What prep steps are necessary?
