My parents are having the same problem. Green mold everywhere on the underside of the roof, and they just got a new forced air furnace with a humidifier last summer. Since late November the mold has really spread on the north side. Two weeks ago they had 3 mushroom vents added and it has made the problem worse! There is now mold growning on the south side roof too.
As far as a remedy I would love to hear some professional recommendations.
I have had them turn the humidifier off. And am looking into mold removal services. I've read the wood should be painted with additives that prevent the mold from growing, and the paint keeps any remaining spores sealed.
I plan on returning to see what other have found, and will let you know what I come across too.
