Shower light

I'd like to add a recessed light above a shower/ tub in my home.
The problem is that a ceiling joist runs exactly in the middle of the length of the tub and prohibits installing a fixture in that location.
Could there be any alternate lighting schemes available and, if so, can you point me in that direction.
