basement humidity

I have a very old home (100 years), with a very humid basement (unfinished). While cleaning out decades of junk, tools, etc., I noticed everything had rusted, over the years, and mold and mildew in most places. I purchased a dehumidifier (50 pint), and have been running it for over a week. The humidity was around 75%, and is down to 60-65%. What is a good humidity level for spring/summer/winter. I just want to find a comfortable level, to prevent such problems from reoccuring.
