How to "faux brick" basement stucco walls Posted by Carol S. on February 17th, 2003 08:36 AM
Our basement was partially finished when we moved in. Two of the walls are painted plywood, and the other two walls are cement which have a swirly stucco/plaster pattern which is painted white. I'm planning to repaint the plywood walls, and want to create a faux brick look on the cement walls.
The faux brick paint technique will be tricky, but it's worth a try. I picked up some suggestions elsewhere on this website, but any other suggestions are appreciated. I'm going for a rustic lodge look, and am planning to sponge on the brick with a brick red paint.
How do I give the bricks a realistic look? Should they all be the same paint color? How do I create a real grout look?
Thanks in advance for anyone's tips.
